Nevada Blue Turquoise is among the finest turquoise to emerge from Nevada, formerly known as the Pinto or Watts mine. Situated near the crest of the Shoshone Range in Lander County, Nevada, this deposit was discovered by Jim Watts in 1901 and later sold. Access to this mine is notoriously difficult, making Nevada Blue turquoise all the more prized. In its high-grade form, the colors range from medium to dark blue with striking black or brown spider webbing. Widely marketed in the 1970s, Nevada Blue turquoise adorned the creations of many of the Southwest’s greatest silversmiths, as seen in the April 1979 issue of ‘Arizona Highways’ magazine.
